Finish: Walnut

Our mirrors are handcrafted using plain-sawn wood and small-batch finish formulas. Because we work with natural materials, color and grain patterns will vary between samples and form finished piece to piece. No two mirrors will be identical - something we consider part of the charm. Please note that aging and light exposure may change the look of your mirror frame over time.

All mirrors employ a french cleat hanging system, with the mirror cleat pre-attached to the back of the frame and the wall cleat included in the packaging. The most secure way of mounting the wall cleat is with cabinet screws (included) drilled into wooden wall studs. When no studs are present, a variety of methods and hardware are available for mounting to drywall, plaster, masonry, etc., but are not included. For this reason, and if no studs are present, it is recommended that the mirror be hung by a professional handyman, carpenter, or contractor. Incorrect hanging of mirror frames may result in personal injury, and/or cause damage to the mirror or surrounding fixtures.

If mounting is not conducted by a professional, consult a local hardware or home improvement store, being sure to purchase the correct hanger for the type of wall and weight of the mirror. When you’re ready to hang the mirror ensure access to the following tools:

  • Masking tape
  • Level
  • Pencil
  • Drill
  • Non-stud wall hangers (not included)
  • #8 x 2” cabinet screws (included, for use when mounting to wall studs ONLY)
  1. Place a piece of masking tape on the wall at the approximate desired height of the mirror frame’s top edge, about center of the mirror’s width.
  2. Writing on the masking tape, mark the desired top edge height, about center of the mirror’s width.
  3. With the mirror frame lying on a flat surface, mirror-side down, hold the wall cleat against the mirror cleat. Ensure each cleat’s angled protrusion fits tightly against that of the opposite cleat.
  4. Holding the connected cleats steady, measure the distance from the top of the mirror frame to the center of the holes on the wall cleat. Record this distance.
  5. Using the distance found in Step 4, measure down from the mark made in Step 2. Mark this new height on the wall. Double check the distance between the two marks equals that found in Step 4.
  6. Using a level, draw a line at the height found in step 5, extending about an inch past the full width of the cleat and centered on the desired left-to-right placement of the mirror.
  7. Vertically center the wall cleat’s screw holes along the line, while ensuring the cleat is centered left-to-right on the frame’s final placement.
  8. With the wall cleat centered, mark three of the screw holes on the wall, with one at either end and one about center. Set the wall cleat aside. *Extra screw holes in the cleat are for alignment to wall studs, if any are present. It is not necessary to use more than three screws for mounting the wall cleat as long as they are spaced somewhat evenly between left, right, and center.
  9. If drilling into a wall stud, pre-drill through the marked cleat holes where studs are present.
  10. When no stud is present, follow manufacturer’s instructions for inserting hangers, ensuring they are placed at the marked screw holes.
  11. Mount the wall cleat. If using drywall or plaster hangers, it is recommended to use a screw driver while tightening the hangers in order to better feel when they are snug and avoid over-tightening.
  12. Re-check the cleat is level and centered left-to-right. If not, loosen screws and shift the cleat’s ends up or down as needed until level is achieved. Re-tighten screws.
  13. Using fingertips, offer moderate downward and side-to-side pressure to the wall cleat, ensuring it is tight to the wall and doesn’t move when put under weight.
  14. Gently lift the mirror over the wall cleat, then slowly bring it downward, ensuring the angled protrusion of the mirror cleat is sitting in the matched protrusion of the wall cleat. It is helpful to have a second person looking behind the mirror for alignment and to make sure the cleats catch each other.
  15. Slide the mirror left or right as needed. There is no vertical adjustment.
  16. A properly installed mirror frame will sit about ⅛” off the wall, with the bumpers in the lower corners resting against the wall.

Solid wood is a living material that responds to its environment, especially temperature and moisture changes. Slight cracking is not unusual. Maintain consistent humidity levels to prevent warping. For daily care, dry dust and wipe with a slightly damp microfiber cloth. Dry residual moisture with a clean cloth. Kindly avoid harsh chemicals, bleaches, degreasers, or other heavy duty cleaners
